Time changes nearly everything. Seasons pass, circumstances shift, and people who once seemed permanently close may find themselves separated by cities, countries, responsibilities, or decisions they never expected to make.
Love cannot stop these changes. It cannot make every journey shorter, prevent every farewell, or preserve the world exactly as it appeared at the beginning of a relationship. Yet romantic poetry has repeatedly imagined another kind of victory over time: not the suspension of change, but the persistence of affection within it.
